The Villages True Crime Book Club meets the third Sunday in the months of September through November and January through May. Meetings are usually held in the Orchid Room at Hibiscus Recreation Center from 3:00 - 4:20 pm. At the meeting, a member will moderate a discussion about the monthly selected book.
We also host special events in January and March. They usually feature presentations by authors, members of law enforcement, victims and other true crime related guests.
The club is open to any resident living in The Villages, FL. Yearly dues are $5.00. When you join, we ask that you purchase a name tag for an additional $5.00 to make check-in easier. We also suggest a member attend at least three meetings a year.
If you wish to join, email truecrimebookclubtv@gmail.com for complete details. Once you join, you will be added to our email and newsletter lists to keep you informed of upcoming events. You may also have the chance to participate in special activities such as this murder mystery dinner at the Baker House.
One of the benefits of being in The Villages True Crime Book Club is the ability to help select the books discussed at each meeting.
Members submit true crime books in March for consideration. Then a committee narrows the selection down to 12 books, and members vote for the six books they would like to read in the coming year. Members are notified at the beginning of May of the books receiving the most votes.
